“We are honored to bring Hugo Coffee to such an inspiring and inclusive community landmark,” said Claudia McMullin, founder and CEO of Hugo Coffee. “The Salt Lake City Public Library embodies values of education, community, and connection—values that we share deeply at Hugo. We’re not just pouring coffee; we’re creating a space where people can come together, be themselves, and support a bigger cause.”
Founded by Claudia McMullin, a former Summit County Council member and lifelong animal advocate, Hugo Coffee was born from her passion for both quality coffee and animal rescue. Named after her own rescue pup Hugo, the brand has become a favorite among Utahns who want their coffee purchases to make a difference. To date, Hugo Coffee has donated over $120,000 to more than 150 animal rescue organizations across the country, living up to its motto: “Drink Coffee. Save Animals.”
This newest location is the company’s sixth, expanding its presence in the region and reinforcing its commitment to making coffee more than just a morning ritual. As one of the most community-driven Salt Lake coffeeshops, Hugo Coffee continues to build spaces that are as socially impactful as they are delicious.
Grand opening festivities on June 7th and 8th will include limited-edition Pride-themed Hugo Coffee stickers, available both at the Salt Lake City Public Library location and the Hugo Coffee booth at the Utah Pride Festival. Festival-goers can also pick up a special coupon offering 20% off any purchase at the new library location—valid during the festival weekend only. It’s the perfect opportunity to sip something extraordinary while celebrating inclusivity, love, and local business.
The Salt Lake City Public Library, known for its architectural beauty and role as a central cultural hub, now gains another layer of community connection with the addition of Hugo Coffee. Located just steps away from the Library Trax Station, the coffeeshop is convenient for commuters, students, downtown professionals, and Pride attendees alike.
