If you’re a marketer, then Black Friday is your Super Bowl. It’s the biggest shopping day of the year, and if you can capitalize on it, you can bring in a lot of business. But it’s not as easy as just putting up a few ads and waiting for the money to start rolling in. If you want to have a successful Black Friday campaign, you need to do some strategizing ahead of time.
A successful Black Friday marketing requires a lot of working components. You need an exceptional Black Friday marketing strategy to generate profit. So please read on for tips on making the most of this major sales event.
About Black Friday
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving when retailers offer doorbuster deals and massive discounts on holiday shopping. This year, 2022, Black Friday falls on Friday the 25th.
In the 1990s, as Black Friday gained popularity, retailers began opening at midnight or early Friday, so people camped out. Some states proclaimed Black Friday a government holiday, and shopping spread internationally. At least 20 countries began the holiday shopping season we know today.
Start Your Black Friday Marketing Early
You can’t wait until the week of Black Friday to start your marketing efforts. By then, it will be too late. It would help if you started planning your marketing plan and executing your campaign at least three months in advance. This will give you enough time to create targeted ads, design eye-catching visuals, and create creative promotions.
Starting early is also essential because Black Friday is no longer just a one-day event. Thanks to the internet, people can shop online at any time of day or night. So your marketing needs to be ongoing and constant in the weeks leading up to Black Friday.
Use Product Descriptions That Sell
Your product descriptions need to be on point if you want to make sales on Black Friday. This is not the time to be shy about what your products can do. Use strong, persuasive language to make people want to buy what you’re selling.
Add eye-catching descriptions that promote sales. Be sure to highlight the features and benefits of your products, and appeal to people’s emotions. Use the following phrases to emphasize the urgency to buy now:
- Only one left
- Only for a limited time
- Selling out quickly!
Plan ahead and build a product description timetable to identify which products will be on sale and at what price. Instead of improvising at the last minute, get ahead of things and make minor changes.
Cross-Selling and Up-Selling
This is a perfect moment to improve your cross-selling and up-selling skills. If you can get people to buy more than one item, or upgrade to a higher-priced item, you’ll increase your profits. To do this, you need to be strategic about the way you position your products.
If you have a shopper about to buy an item, you should suggest something that organically fits together—for example, notebooks and pens or socks and shoes.
Give Discounts that Count
People love getting a good deal, so be sure to offer discounts that will entice them to buy from you. Most shoppers expect at least 20% off Black Friday purchases. Be competitive. Offer a gift with your purchased items to stand out.
The greater the discount, the better this weekend. But beware of offering too deep of a discount, as this can eat into your profits. Get inventive with the discounts you provide. For example, show discounts prominently on the homepage or add a countdown banner that urges people to act now and buy before the deal expires!
Use Email and SMS As a Marketing Tool
Email and SMS marketing are both great ways to reach your target audience. You can use these channels to send out coupons, discounts, and special offers. You can also use them to keep people updated on your latest products and Black Friday deals. This enables you to offer them a special deal for their loyalty. You want to spark their curiosity about the sales you’re offering.
Write Eye-Catching Email Headers
While you must begin your email and SMS marketing as soon as possible, you also want to ensure that those get opened. A classic discount-only strategy will almost certainly be deleted before it is opened. Add innovation and individuality to your Black Friday deal, and you’ll almost certainly increase sales.
Using Social Media
Social networking can be quite beneficial to your e-commerce store. Remember that if you run social media adverts, the more interaction you have with them, the better they perform.
Again, you should design campaigns that are both interesting and shareable. Consider that you don’t want your adverts only to be read; you also want them to reach your target market.
