National Beer Day was first started to commemorate the passage of the Cullen-Harrison Act, allowing Americans to legally purchase beer and wine, capped at 3.2% by weight, for the first time since the Prohibition. For decades, it’s been seen as a celebration of popular beers and raising a glass between family and friends.
