Back in 2004, Dove launched its “Real Beauty” campaign. It featured women with diverse body types and skin tones, which challenged the accepted beauty standards of the time. While many people feared the campaign would alienate their target audience, it actually did the opposite. The campaign connected with women on an emotional level, which resulted in increased sales and positive brand awareness. The “Real Beauty” campaign was a considerable risk, but it paid off.
